Sarah carries out writing projects with some of her students. This involves planning, designing and writing a booklet in a chosen genre. Examples of some previous projects include: writing an adventure story, designing and making a Mathematics, Problem Solving and Puzzle booklet and writing a recipe booklet.
Working on extended projects such as these allows children the scope to be creative in their ideas, as well as developing their planning and proofreading skills. Pupils are provided with an opportunity to ‘self-publish’, as they are doing all the designing and printing themselves. They are awarded the satisfaction of seeing their work as a sort of finished product. There is heaps of fun to be had in the process, and some students print multiple copies so they can give them to friends and family.
